December 11, 2012 Kid Friendly Virtual Worlds

Children participate in a variety of 3D environments.  In December we will be connecting with some K-12 students and their parents as the children take viewers on a tour of some of the worlds they use for playing and learning.  Children will demonstrate how they use Poptropica, Wizard 101, Club Penguin and Eden Eternal.  Parents will provide their perspective.  The SIGVE Diner will be broadcasting on their  screen and attendees can backchannel questions to our very special guests.  Meet at the Diner to sit with colleagues and backchannel as it is broadcast on the Diner screen at he SLURL in Second Life is: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/EduIsland%209/71/48/22

October 23, 2012 Scary Sim Crawl and 60 Second Machinima

SIGVE sponsored their second 2012-13 Connected event.  This one was just before Halloween and besides showing off some of the best Education locations in the Virtual World, was fun!  Those looking for an active experience logged into Second LIfe at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/EduIsland%209/62/99/22 (SIGVE HQ ) to begin the Sim Crawl to various Educatinal locations. They were greeted at each location with a Halloween encounter and even given a halloween treat, or sent on a hunt for a surprise.  Those more inclined to a passive experience watched the broadcast live.

August 21,  2012 - Get Connected

On August 21, 2012 at 6PM Pacific Time SIGVE  hosted a "Connected Session" to introduce teachers to a variety of virtual environments and regularly scheduled events within these immersive environments.  The 90 minute "Connected Event" provided a virtual field trip to six virtual destinations and participants attended in-world or watched the video stream.
